VIVEK SAIGAL

My method?
Solve the problem behind the ask.

I’m a product designer in The Bay Area with 10 years of experience in design systems and visual design.

I use systems thinking to create scalable, durable design solutions that anticipate new problems. I’ve also been known to make things look beautiful.

My design process

1. Agree on goals and timelines

Define the customer problem we’re trying to solve: what’s working and what could be better? Ask for customer insights if available. Understand the business goals: what are the stakeholder needs?

2. Think in phases: good, better, best

Good: what can we do now to remove pain points?
Better: what should we focus on for the next few quarters?
Best: where should we be in a year?
Long-term planning gets people excited about the journey.

3. Designing is teamwork

I collaborate with the entire team at every step: developers, PMs, content designers, and UX researchers. If our work affects other teams, we invite them to brainstorm early and often.

Design isn’t complete until it’s expressed in code, so I work with engineers to understand what’s possible.

4. Document and measure the work

We document everything so there’s context for our decisions. This helps other teams use our work and prevent “institutional amnesia.”

Finally, we measure the success of our work to understand what needs improvement.

Fun facts

I got 79 Intuit Spotlight Awards from peers and leaders, for outstanding performance, innovation, and service dedication.

I’ve been drawing since I was a child and I think in Illustration.

I prefer plain English; if you hear me using corporate buzzwords, I’ve been replaced by an evil clone—send help.
